Enthralled by MMORPG EVE Online
at a LAN party in London, 2010
Welcome to the interwebs home of Jay Cornwall. I am a 29 year old computing professional and hobbyist, currently living in Austin, TX. My main occupation is software development. I am presently employed by AMD in an engineering role for the Fusion APU platform. In my spare time I write open source software and enjoy computer gaming. I swim recreationally and spend countless hours a week rock climbing.
My life and career began in the suburbs and heart of London, UK. My alma mater of eight memorable years, Imperial College, granted my honours in a masters degree and a doctorate in computing. During my time at the university, I collaborated with the folk from fledgling VFX software developers The Foundry, who would later become my first professional employer. In the spring of 2011 I was presented with an opportunity to move to the United States, where I could build upon an emerging skill set in computer architecture at AMD.
Today, I am actively exploring procedural realtime graphics generation and 4KB lossless executable compression on the Linux platform. My Essence software framework embodies the playground in which I experiment with new ideas. Squish lays the foundation for my foray into the world of compression.
